EMPIRE PROGRAM (Ages 9-18)
OVERVIEW
What is the Empire Program at RYH?
The Empire Program at RYH is a collection of RYH/Rochester Coalition teams that play their regular season games in the Empire Amature Hockey Conference (EAHC). The EAHC is a youth hockey league with organizations and teams participating that are local to the Rochester Region.
Season: The Empire Conference season at RYH starts in Septmber and runs through February, with playoffs and championships at the end of February. Most Empire Conference teams elect to continue attending several tournaments throughout the season, often concluding in March.
Practice: Empire Conference teams typically practice two nights per week, September through February. A complete practice schedule is posted to each teams RYHockey.com page at the beginning of the season.
Games: Games commence in late October and run through February. Typically, games are held on the weekend, although older divisions may have a weeknight game, occasionally.
Costs: Base Empire team fees include in season practice and game ice, referees, practice apparel and organizational adminstrative costs. A typical Empire Season fee will vary from approximately $1100 to $1500 for all previously mentioned. You may find a season fee at RYH to be higher than some other local organizations, but RYH teams do practice at least twice per week from September through at least February!
ATTENTION GOALIES, OR THOSE INTERESTED IN PLAYING GOALIE FULL TIME!!
We know that many worry that goaltending can be an expensive position to play. Rochester Youth Hockey is committed to our goalies and we offer 50% off the season fee for all full time goalies playing in our Empire program. We also offer regular training with trainers from the New Edge School of Goaltending during normal practice times.
Once registered, season fees are paid on a monthly basis (typically) beginning in July with the balance due in December. You don't need the full amount to be paid in one lump sum!
Please Note:
- Red team budgets may be enhanced, resulting in higher per player expense, for additonal practice time and optional Thruway Series participation and/or at coach’s discretion (estimated additional cost $200-300 per player for Thruway Series);
- Additonal expenses may include a team fund. This may be requested by the Head Coach/Manager to cover team events and tournaments.
-Game jerseys also need to be purchased separately and usually cost about $100 for a set of home and away jerseys.
Team Formation:
Red teams have tryouts, typically towards the beginning to middle of May. White and Blue teams have an evaluation for placement and the beginning of team formation shortly after the Red tryout.
