Other Questions
I have a question that wasn't addressed on this page. How can I get answers?
Q: Who can I contact for questions about a specific team?
A: Please contact the Head Coach. You can find their contact information here.
Q: How will registration work for travel teams?
Starting on the correct registration date (June 1st or June 11th) our coaches will send all players that they would like on their team a Roco Team Selection letter inviting those players to register for a spot on their team. The letter will contain a link directing the players to the Rochester Youth Hockey site where they can complete the registration.
During registration families will be required to select the team they have been asked to play for via drop down menu and then complete five steps:
- Digitally sign or check the boxes agreeing to the Waiver Agreement.
- Digitally sign or check the boxes agreeing to the player Code of Conduct.
- Digitally sign or check the boxes agreeing to the Letter of Commitment/Financial Obligations Acknowledgement.
- Digitally sign or check the boxes agreeing to Registration Approval Acknowledgement.
- Make a $150 season deposit.
Once the coach has received confirmation from our registrar that those steps have been completed, they will send out via email the Roco Team Confirmation letter formally accepting the player onto their team.
Once all members of the team have completed the registration process, the rosters will then be posted on the Rochester Youth Hockey website.
Q: Do I need a release from my prior organization to participate with the Rochester Coalition?
A: No, effective May 30th all players are deemed released by their prior year organization unless they have not met the financial obligations. Any player not meeting the financial obligations will be placed on a list, published on the NYSAHA website and is not eligible for participation with any organization for the 2020-21 season until financial obligations are met.
Q: How will registration work for Empire and Mite teams?
A: Registration will be conducted at www.ryhockey.com beginning on June 11th.
Q: When are the registration dates?
A: There are two registration time periods:
Group 1: Monday, June 1, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. for AAA Tier I and AA Tier II Tournament Bound Teams 14u-18u.
- Registration for these teams will run June 1st at 9:00 AM - June 10th at 5:00 PM.

Tryouts
Q: When are tryouts?
A: At this time we are planning to proceed without tryouts. We are working with NYSAHA to determine when it is safe for normal hockey operations to resume. They continue to address events as they evolve. NYSAHA will notify us of when all sanctioned events may be scheduled, subject to such activities being permitted by the State of New York and applicable local government authorities.
Team Selection
Q: Can a player who’s already committed before June 30th be removed, or cut, from a team a later date?
A: Any player who signs a commitment letter to a team cannot be cut to make room for any player signed thereafter.
Q: What happens if we suffer a financial hardship or have concerns about COVID-19 and elect not to play for a team we’ve already committed to?
A: If a player/family who has signed a commitment form for the 2020-2021 season needs to withdraw due to financial hardship or COVID-19 concerns, they will be permitted to do so by August 15, 2020 whether or not a deposit was placed. They will receive a full refund of any monies paid to date, with the exception of the cost of jerseys or equipment that was purchased for a specific player. Players who are released under these conditions will not be permitted to play for any other National or State Tournament Bound team or other travel team, and will only be allowed to play in house league hockey for the 2020-2021 season.
