As our community continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, we are excited to get back to hockey in accordance with the guidelines issued by the State of New York and NYSAHA.

In this web section, we will outline the measures we are taking to create as safe an environment as possible for anyone attending an event during these unprecedented times. Please read this document thoroughly.  You may also view a copy of the ROCO COVID Waiver that is required to be agreed to by all ROCO families as a condition of participation.  If you have not already electronically read and agreed to the conditions of the waiver, a link is also provided for you to do so.

These guidelines are for Phase 2 of NYSAHA.

At this time competitive team practices are not permitted.  Low contact group training is permitted. That is defined as non-checking.

As we move to the next Phase(s) of NYSAHA, these guidelines will be reviewed and updated as required.

All players, families, staff and Rochester Youth Hockey Board Members and Volunteers are required to agree to follow the prescribed self-screening protocols, safety measures and reporting procedures.  In addition, they have been required to agree to allow Rochester Youth Hockey (Rochester Coalition, ROCO) to take all measures deemed necessary to maintain the health and safety of all involved as well as waive the organization (and it’s members) from all liability in the event a participant/spectator contracts COVID-19.

Please read, share and adhere to the public safety protocols while attending an event, in any capacity.

All attendees who answer NO to any of the screening questions below are prohibited to attending an event.

  • I have not tested positive for COVID-19 nor have been exposed to an individual with COVID-19 in the previous 14 days.
  • I have not traveled, in the last 14 days, to any location that New York State designated as requiring a 14-day self-isolation after returning due to the high incidence of COVID-19
  • I have not experienced any symptom, some as listed below, associated with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
    • Fever (>= 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit)
    • Chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache

    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Congestion or runny nose

All attendees are required to follow the safety protocols as listed below.

Practice social distancing of 6 ft wherever possible especially in common areas. This won’t apply to players while engaging in their games.

Wear a mask when a 6 ft distance cannot be maintained

Refrain from handshakes and celebrations that require contact

Players MUST bring water bottles with them for the duration of the event. Water bottles MUST be clearly labeled with a player’s name and not share with any other individual.

Drop-off / Pick-up

Players should remain in their cars until 15 minutes prior to the start of training. At the conclusion of programming, please proceed directly to your car and do not congregate around the entrances or exits.

We ask kindly that you limit the number of spectators who will be attending the event.  Each player should be accompanied by no more than 2 people to help limit the size of crowds and to mitigate the risk of transmission

Our first priority is to the health and safety of our players, families, staff and all members of our organization and event attendees.  We reserve the right to take all necessary steps to minimize any risk and transmission of illness.  This may include suspending team operations if it is deemed to be in the best interest of health and safety for those involved.

As such, we will continue to follow the guidelines as prescribed by the State of New York and NYSAHA. We will review and update our policies and procedures as these guidelines change.

We have established a secure email for reporting or submitting questions in regards to our policies, procedures and protocols. That email is . Emails will be kept secure and confidential and information will only be used as required by governing bodies (including the State of New York and NYSAHA).

By attending an event in a public facility, all attendees agree that despite organizational safety protocols, there still exists a certain amount of risk of infection from COVID-19 and agree to waive Rochester Youth Hockey/ROCO (it’s members, coaches, staff, board members and volunteers) from all liability as a result.
